Cherries in the Snow

This recipe is similar to a trifle and there are many variations on the recipe. Some have pudding, some angel food cake, others pound cake, but the idea remains the same.

Cherries in the Snow

Ingredients:

1 prepared angel food cake, ripped into bite sized pieces (about 4 cups)
4 cups whipped cream (cool whip, or dream whip will do, but nothing like homemade!)
1 brick or tub of cream cheese (250 g)
1 can of cherry pie filling
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup white sugar

Directions:

In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese, milk and sugar until well combined. Fold cream cheese mixture into 4 cups of prepared whipped cream and set aside.

In a glass trifle bowl, layer half of the cake pieces, half a can of pie filling and half of the whipped cream/cream cheese mixture. Repeat.

This dish is best if left in the fridge overnight so the flavours can develop - BUT if you don't have that much time, it tastes just fine eaten right away.

Enjoy!!
