Salisbury Steaks with Mushroom Gravy

Inspired by a recipe I had seen in a magazine, I wanted to make my own version of this classic recipe. After scouring the web, and reading through dozens of recipes; this is what I came up with. Perfect served over egg noodles, mashed potatoes or rice. We had crisp green beans from the garden as our veggie! My hubby gives it 2 thumbs up.... Enjoy.

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef
1 package dry onion soup mix
1 can of condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 box of packaged stuffing mix (ie: stove top, stuff n' such, etc.)
1 egg
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp thyme
1 envelope of brown gravy mix
2 cups sliced mushrooms

Directions:

Combine ground beef, mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix, stuffing, Worcestershire, egg, and thyme and mix well. Shape into 6 patties and place in a glass casserole dish. Don't worry if the patties seem too moist because the stuffing mix will absorb some of the excess moisture as it cooks. Cook in a preheated oven @ 350 F for 45 minutes.

Meanwhile prepare gravy mix according to package directions. In a skilled, saute mushrooms in a tablespoon of margarine or butter until soft. Add mushrooms to gravy and mix.

~I served these steaks on a bed of egg noodles, topped with a few spoonfuls of the gravy and mushrooms.~
