Apple Crisp

After taking a trip to a local farm to go apple picking with my boys, we ended up with about 25 lbs of apples. I have made canned apple pie filling, candy apples, and apple sauce and still have over a dozen large apples left. So I thought; why not make apple crisp - everybody loves apple crisp. This recipe makes about 6 servings.

Ingredients:

4 cups sliced apples - use 4 medium
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
1/3 cup melted butter or margarine
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions:

First, heat your oven to 375F. Then take a 8-inch square pan and grease it with butter or margarine. Take all your sliced apples (you can peel them but you don't have to) and spread them in the pan. Then take a medium sized bowl and mix in all the remaining ingredients - packed brown sugar, all-purpose flour, oats, melted butter or margarine, ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg. When its well mixed, sprinkle them over the apples.

Put the baking pan into the oven and bake for like 30 minutes. The topping should be golden brown and apples should be tender when you pierce them with a knife or a fork.

Enjoy!
